School campaigns have included:

Health promotion, Adopt-a-Grandparent, Concern Fast, Youth for Justice, Green Schools, Student Mentoring, Study Skills, and St. Vincent DePaul fund raising are amoung a few from the last few years.


Gaelic Football – U14, U16, U18, Soccer, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Hurling, Kayaking. In Gaelic football we participate in both local and Leinster competitions, with the opportunity for the best footballers to be part of the county panel. Longford County Vocational Schools won the all-Ireland in 2003 and the Leinster final in 2004. In 2012 we won the O Byrne cup and are currently have boys and girls teams competing in both football and soccer.

Educational Tours

There are various trips to destinations in Ireland for art, theater, geography & cultural events throughout the school year. A Continental tour is organised every two years. Previous tours included: various cities & regions of Germany, Barcelona, Paris,Poland, Amsterdam & the Netherlands and London.

Between 2010-2012 school years students also had a chance to travel to European destinations such as Belgium and France with the COMENIUS project.

Art tours have included a 2nd-year trip to Rome as well as a Leaving Cert weekend to Paris to visit the museums & have an intensive preparation weekend for exams (Art & French).  Next trip scheduled for March 2016.  These are all invaluable learning experiences.

Our senior students also attend Career Exhibitions and visit Third Level Institutions regularly. Every student has the option to go to the ‘ BT Young Scientist Exhibition’ in the RDS as well as a number of other educational day trips.
