LCC vs Elphin Match Report – 15.01.26

By Sarah Healy (TY, Lanesboro CC)

From the first minute, the Lanesboro lads looked dominant. Josh Curran had his shooting boots on to finish a great team move from the throw in. Tim Kenny was lively as usual, rounding three players to finish an early goal. We had some stylish scores, most memorable being a volleyed point by Hayden Smyth! Before the 15 minutes was up, Oisín Dillon got himself a goal and Tim rattled the net once again.

The second half started with the same intensity; Oisín kept the scoreline ticking over with precision. Cathal Hanley calmly finished a well-worked move between Josh and Oisín, followed by Hayden hitting the back of the net to wrap up the junior game.

The scoring in the senior game was opened by the Elphin number 28. Sajad put over a slick free kick to get himself on the scoresheet. Alphie Murphy put in a great shift in midfield, winning lots of dirty ball. Nearing the end of the first half, Tim cleverly fisted over a point, but Elphin got the last score of the half with a good point by number 9.

Mikey Sorohan got himself a few well-deserved points in the second half. Billy Murray put Josh through for the final goal of the day with a pinpoint kick pass. Mikey closed the game in style with a fine point.
